This two-day workshop will emphasize visual inspection and testing protocols for evaluating duct leakage in residential buildings. Attendees will use duct testing equipment (Retrotec or Energy Conservatory) to determine both total leakage and leakage to outside. The course also covers the use of the blower door and pressure pans for qualitative assessment of the condition of the ducting system.
After the instructor demonstrates the skills and techniques used to properly seal ducts, attendees will participate in hands-on duct sealing exercises using mastic, mesh tape, Panduit tensioning straps, patches, drives and cleats. Participants will then be asked to test the results of their work by pressurizing the system.
