Event Details

The 2-day training is designed to prepare exam candidates for the field portion of the Home Energy Professional Energy Auditor exam. Day one is for review and practice of the ANSI/BPI-1200-S-2017 combustion safety standard and related testing. Day two is for review and practice of the Energy Auditor Field guide. Each attendee will participate in classroom and laboratory work. All classroom and laboratory work will be in accordance with the ANSI/ BPI-1200-S-2017 standard and the BPI Energy Auditor Field Guide.

Topics covered in the classroom will include:
• Safe environment testing
• Diagnostic tools
• Gas Leakage Testing
• Carbon Monoxide Testing
• Efficiency testing
• Visual inspection of the combustion appliance zone
• Combustion appliance identification
• Combustion appliance vent categorization
• Visual inspection of combustion appliances
• Safety controls for combustion appliances
• Procedure for setting up worst case scenario
• Oven testing
• Standards and action required for combustion testing
• Knowledge and Abilities required for the field exam
• The five gated items for the field exam
• BPI Energy Auditor Scheme Handbook
• BPI Energy Auditor Field Guide

Specific tasks in the laboratory will include:
• Identify health and safety issues
• Execute a combustion safety test
• Execute a blower door test
• Execute a duct leakage test
• Execute a zonal pressure test
• Execute a fan flow measurement
• Analyze information from all diagnostic testing
• Use the Energy Auditor Field Guide
